Our Educational Approach

Our Educational Approach

At Bystra škôlka, we provide bilingual education in Slovak and English and are part of the official network of schools and educational institutions of the Slovak Republic. Our educational programme is delivered in accordance with the Slovak National Curriculum.

The foundation of our work is based on the principles of Montessori education, which naturally foster children's independence, concentration, responsibility, and intrinsic motivation. Learning takes place through hands-on experiences rather than performance-driven outcomes.

We view every child as an individual and adapt the pace, approach, and level of support to their unique needs, abilities, and stage of development.

English is a natural part of daily life at our kindergarten. Through immersion, one teacher communicates exclusively in English throughout the day, allowing children to acquire the language in authentic, meaningful situations. Our programme is complemented by Jolly Phonics, which supports the development of early literacy and pre-writing skills.

The result is a stable, safe, and stimulating environment where children develop naturally and build a strong foundation for their future education.

How We Prepare Children for Primary School

Our preschool programme provides purposeful and comprehensive preparation for the transition to primary school. Our goal is not only to prepare children academically, but also to help them become confident, independent, and curious individuals who look forward to the next stage of their educational journey.

Thanks to our smaller class sizes, individualised approach, and professional guidance, we can respond to the needs of each child and systematically support their school readiness.

As part of the programme, preschool children benefit from:

  • bilingual education in accordance with the Slovak National Curriculum,
  • English language immersion throughout the day and the Jolly Phonics programme,
  • educational assessments and individual consultations,
  • indicative assessment of intellectual potential (NOMI),
  • practice school enrolment sessions and preparation for school admission interviews,
  • individual guidance in selecting the most suitable primary school,
  • development of social and emotional competencies,
  • the Zippy's Friends and Kozmo and His Adventures programmes,
  • project days, educational trips, and special activities designed specifically for preschool children.

We view each child as an individual and respect that success can take many different forms. Our role is to help every child find an environment in which they can continue to flourish, develop their potential, and begin their school journey with confidence and joy.

Support from Our School Psychologist and Professional Support Team

An important member of our school support team is our psychologist, who provides professional guidance and support to teachers, parents, and children.

The psychologist assists with:

  • children's adaptation to the kindergarten environment,
  • school readiness,
  • individual developmental and educational needs,
  • planning and implementation of support measures,
  • consultations for parents,
  • collaboration with specialists and counselling centres,
  • implementation of developmental programmes focused on children's social and emotional skills.

An integral part of our work is also the organisation of professional workshops and parent seminars covering current topics related to child development, emotional well-being, setting healthy boundaries, school readiness, and fostering positive family relationships.

We believe that professional support, strong partnerships with families, and early intervention enable children to reach their full potential in a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment.
